1. Start with the document’s origin and destination
- Identify who issued the document and whether it is a Nevada, another state, federal, Israeli, or private document.
- Ask the receiving organization in Israel or the United States whether it needs a notarization, certified copy, apostille, translation, or another step.
- Keep the original document available when it is required. Do not alter an official record to make it appear notarized.
- Use the authority responsible for the document type. An apostille path for a state-issued record can differ from the path for a federal record.
2. Nevada apostille coordination
An apostille is used between countries that participate in the Hague Apostille Convention to authenticate the origin of a public document for use abroad. It does not decide whether the receiving organization will accept the document’s contents.
For a Nevada document, the correct sequence depends on what it is and how it was signed or issued. We can help you organize the document, confirm the intended destination, coordinate the appropriate next step, and communicate in Hebrew or English. The government authority, not a notary, issues an apostille.
Before asking for coordination
- Share a clear scan, the receiving organization’s written instructions if available, and the destination country.
- Tell us whether the document is a public record, a signed private document, or a federal document.
- Do not rely on a generic checklist when the receiving organization has its own instructions.
3. U.S. documents for use in Israel
Israel and the United States participate in the Hague Apostille Convention. In many cases, a U.S. public document intended for use in Israel follows the U.S. apostille process for the authority that issued it. The Israeli receiving organization still controls its own document, translation, and format requirements.
For Israeli-issued documents that will be used elsewhere, the appropriate Israeli authority and route may be different. A consulate is not automatically the correct place to begin. We help clients identify the questions to ask and prepare an orderly handoff, without representing that we can decide a government or receiving organization’s requirements.

4. When remote notarization may be possible
Nevada law permits remote electronic notarization in defined situations. The Nevada electronic notary must be physically located in Nevada. A signer may be in Nevada, elsewhere in the United States, or outside the United States only when the applicable statutory conditions are met.
For a signer outside the United States, the transaction must have a required U.S. connection, and the electronic notary must not have actual knowledge that the remote notarization is prohibited where the signer is located. The document type, receiving organization, signer location, identity evidence, and technology requirements all matter. We review the facts before scheduling and may recommend an in-person or different route if remote notarization is not appropriate.
